Full-Time Preschool Teacher
Position Summary
Maui Preparatory Academy is currently expanding its program and is searching for a Full-time Preschool Teacher to help fill the need for this successful program. Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing engaging activities from our curriculum that foster the development of young children.
- Promoting physical activity while exploring the outdoors with the children.
- Ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of all children in our care.
- Assisting lead teachers in supervising and facilitating fun and educational activities for children aged 3-5.
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to support the implementation of instructional programs.
As a Preschool Teacher, you will work under the guidance of the Center Director and other classroom teachers to ensure the general safety and well-being of the children in our care. Your responsibilities will involve actively engaging with the children, interacting constructively with the faculty and staff, and being responsive to the needs of each child. You will serve as a positive role model and maintain a clean and safe environment for the children.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to interact with preschool students and facilitate learning through play. Some physical tasks, such as lifting toddlers and preschool-age children, may be required. Other duties as assigned may include assisting with classroom management, organizing activities, and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Teacher Certification or Higher with P.A.T.C.H.
Background Check
A combination of experience and education/training is required. Teacher qualified applicants may have
-An Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university;
-A Bachelor’s degree (any field) from an accredited college or university and 12 credits in ECE and/or CD;
-Bachelor’s degree in elementary education (ElEd) from an accredited college or university and six (6) credits in ECE and/or CD;
-Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
Education Requirements:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and at least one (1) year of experience working directly with young children ages birth through five; or
b. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and at least three (3) years of experience working directly with young children ages birth through five; or
c. Proof of current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for preschool settings and at least one (1) year of experience working directly with young children ages birth through five.
Other Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be eligible to meet the requirements of the Teacher Level in the Licensing Matrix for Group Child Care Centers.
Must have a current TB clearance.
Must be presently or willing to register by fingerprinting with the Department of Human Services.
Must be certified in infant/child first aid including rescue breathing and first aid for choking after hire.
Must have physician's clearance to perform duties.
Must have a clean criminal background/record check and must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
