  • Upper School Spanish Teacher

    Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking a highly qualified upper school (9th-12th grade) Spanish teacher for the 2024/2025 school year (start date: ASAP). As a High School Spanish Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and empower students to develop proficiency in the Spanish language and cultivate an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures.
     
    Job Title: Middle and Upper School Spanish Teacher
    Location: Maui Preparatory Academy, Napili, Maui, Hawaii
    Position: Type: Full-Time
    Qualifications: Individuals with a related master’s or doctorate degree are preferred as are those individuals with experience teaching this course load.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Education, Spanish Language Education, or a related field.
    • State teaching certification in Spanish Education (Grades 9-12) or eligibility for certification.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish language (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension).
    • Previous teaching experience at the high school level preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school community.

    Full Job Description
    • $56,086K base salary or commensurate with years of experience and degrees per Maui Prep’s salary scale
    • Design and deliver engaging and rigorous Spanish language curriculum for levels 1, 2, and 3 and above, aligned with state standards and school objectives.
    • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and development in language proficiency and cultural understanding.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
    • Integrate technology effectively into lessons to enhance language acquisition and communication skills.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their language learning journey.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices across grade levels and subject areas.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in language education.
    • The ideal candidate will deliver a practical, hands-on approach to their classes, will leverage West Maui’s natural resources, and incorporate an “outdoor classroom” philosophy into appropriate portions of their instruction.
    • The position requires maintaining a full teaching load, serving as an advisor to a small cohort of students, and actively supporting a variety of student life activities.

  • Preschool Teacher

    Full-Time Preschool Teacher
     
    Position Summary
    Maui Preparatory Academy is currently expanding its program and is searching for a Full-time Preschool Teacher to help fill the need for this successful program. The ideal educator shares our commitment to making a positive difference in children's lives. By joining our team, you will play a vital role in nurturing young minds, working alongside caring professionals who are dedicated to our mission, and supporting each other to achieve our goals.
     
    Your responsibilities will include:
    - Implementing engaging activities from our curriculum that foster the development of young children.
    - Promoting physical activity while exploring the outdoors with the children.
    - Ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of all children in our care.
    - Assisting lead teachers in supervising and facilitating fun and educational activities for children aged 3-5.
    - Collaborating with classroom teachers to support the implementation of instructional programs.
     
    As a Preschool Teacher, you will work under the guidance of the Center Director and other classroom teachers to ensure the general safety and well-being of the children in our care. Your responsibilities will involve actively engaging with the children, interacting constructively with the faculty and staff, and being responsive to the needs of each child. You will serve as a positive role model and maintain a clean and safe environment for the children.
     
    In addition to these responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to interact with preschool students and facilitate learning through play. Some physical tasks, such as lifting toddlers and preschool-age children, may be required. Other duties as assigned may include assisting with classroom management, organizing activities, and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.

    High School Diploma or equivalent
    Teacher Certification or Higher with P.A.T.C.H. 
    Background Check
     
    A combination of experience and education/training is required. Teacher qualified applicants may have
     
    -An Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university;
    -A Bachelor’s degree (any field) from an accredited college or university and 12 credits in ECE and/or CD;
    -Bachelor’s degree in elementary education (ElEd) from an accredited college or university and six (6) credits in ECE and/or CD;
    -Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
     
    Education Requirements:
    a. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and at least one (1) year of experience working directly with young children ages birth through five; or
    b. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and at least three (3) years of experience working directly with young children ages birth through five; or
    c. Proof of current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for preschool settings and at least one (1) year of experience working directly with young children ages birth through five.
     
    Other Qualifications:
    Must be at least 18 years old.
    Must be eligible to meet the requirements of the Teacher Level in the Licensing Matrix for Group Child Care Centers.
    Must have a current TB clearance.
    Must be presently or willing to register by fingerprinting with the Department of Human Services.
    Must be certified in infant/child first aid including rescue breathing and first aid for choking after hire.
    Must have physician's clearance to perform duties.
    Must have a clean criminal background/record check and must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

  • Athletic Coaches

    Maui Prep is always interested in hearing from coaches for our various athletic programs. Coaches are paid a stipend at the conclusion of the season. Although there is some flexibility, practices are typically held during the week from about 3pm to 5pm.   • Substitute Teachers

    Maui Preparatory Academy seeks dynamic and adaptable substitute teachers to join our team, serving students from preschool through 12th grade. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for education, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to engage students across a variety of subjects and age groups. Previous teaching experience and a bachelor’s degree are preferred. Flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment are essential.
