  • Athletic Director

    Location: Napili, Maui, Hawaii

    Maui Preparatory Academy, a vibrant and growing independent school in beautiful West Maui, seeks a dynamic and passionate Athletic Director to lead and develop our athletic programs. This position is ideal for a motivated individual eager to contribute to a thriving academic and athletic community.

    Position Overview

    The Athletic Director will oversee all athletic programs, ensuring alignment with Maui Prep’s mission and values. Responsibilities include program development, team management, compliance with MIL and HHSAA regulations, fostering school spirit, and promoting student-athletes’ academic and athletic success.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Oversee the organization, scheduling, and supervision of all athletic programs.
    • Recruit, mentor, and manage coaches for lower school activities and middle and high school teams.
    • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and families to promote student-athlete well-being.
    • Ensure compliance with all league, state, and school athletic policies.
    • Manage budgets, equipment, and facilities.
    • Represent Maui Prep at league meetings and events.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred).
    • Proven experience in athletic administration or coaching.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to inspire and connect with students, staff, and the community.
    • A commitment to fostering sportsmanship.
    • A leader, able to work with Administrative Staff, Donors, Board Members, etc. to present programs and be professional in various communication platforms.

    Position Overview
    The Director of Preschool will oversee our preschool program's daily operations, curriculum, and staff, ensuring alignment with Maui Prep’s mission and values. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a safe, stimulating, learning environment that nurtures the development of every child and aligns with Maui Prep’s mission and values. 

    Key Responsibilities
    • Lead and manage the preschool program, including curriculum development and implementation.
    • Supervise and support preschool staff through training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
    • Build strong relationships with families, creating a welcoming and communicative school community.
    • Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and accreditation standards.
    • Develop and manage the preschool budget and work closely with the administration.
    • Foster a culture of creativity, exploration, and empathy in the classroom.
    Qualifications

    For the director role, the following qualifications must be met per Hawaii Administrative Rules Department of Human Services:
    • A child development associate credential, and four years of experience working with children and at least on year of experience working with children of which at least one year of experience shall be with children of the appropriate age group (3-5 year olds) OR
    • Two years of college education (60 semester credits) preferably with courses in development, or related fields, and four years of experience in work with children of which at least one year of experience with children of the appropriate age group (3-5 year olds) OR
    A bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university preferably with courses in early childhood education, child development, or related fields, and two years of experience with children of the appropriate age group (3-5 year olds)

  • Upper School Spanish Teacher

    Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking a highly qualified upper school (9th-12th grade) Spanish teacher for the 2024/2025 school year (start date: ASAP). As a High School Spanish Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and empower students to develop proficiency in the Spanish language and cultivate an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures.
     
    Job Title: Middle and Upper School Spanish Teacher
    Location: Maui Preparatory Academy, Napili, Maui, Hawaii
    Position: Type: Full-Time
    Qualifications: Individuals with a related master’s or doctorate degree are preferred as are those individuals with experience teaching this course load.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Education, Spanish Language Education, or a related field.
    • State teaching certification in Spanish Education (Grades 9-12) or eligibility for certification.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish language (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension).
    • Previous teaching experience at the high school level preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

    Full Job Description
    • $56,086K base salary or commensurate with years of experience and degrees per Maui Prep’s salary scale
    • Design and deliver engaging and rigorous Spanish language curriculum for levels 1, 2, and 3 and above, aligned with state standards and school objectives.
    • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and development in language proficiency and cultural understanding.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
    • Integrate technology effectively into lessons to enhance language acquisition and communication skills.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their language learning journey.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices across grade levels and subject areas.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in language education.
    • The ideal candidate will deliver a practical, hands-on approach to their classes, will leverage West Maui’s natural resources, and incorporate an “outdoor classroom” philosophy into appropriate portions of their instruction.
    • The position requires maintaining a full teaching load, serving as an advisor to a small cohort of students, and actively supporting a variety of student life activities.

    Student Assistance:

    • Encourage independence and self-confidence in students.
    Behavioral Support:
    • Assist in maintaining a positive and respectful classroom environment.
    • Implement behavior management strategies as outlined by the teacher.
    Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
    • Occasionally helping out with aftercare. 
    • Collaborate with the teaching team to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in education or related field is a plus.
    • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
    • Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students.
    Compensation:
    $35,000/year

  • Substitute Teachers

    Maui Preparatory Academy seeks dynamic and adaptable substitute teachers to join our team, serving students from preschool through 12th grade. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for education, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to engage students across a variety of subjects and age groups. Previous teaching experience and a bachelor’s degree are preferred. Flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment are essential.   • Athletic Coaches

    Maui Prep is always interested in hearing from coaches for our various athletic programs. Coaches are paid a stipend at the conclusion of the season. Although there is some flexibility, practices are typically held during the week from about 3pm to 5pm.
