Academic Support

Individualized academic support in lower school is a personalized approach to education that caters to the unique needs and learning styles of each student. This type of support often involves:
  • Differentiated instruction: Teachers adjust their teaching methods, materials, and assignments to meet the specific needs of individual students.
  • Small group instruction: Students are grouped based on their learning levels or specific needs, allowing for more focused attention from the teacher.
  • One-on-one tutoring: Students receive individualized instruction from a teacher, tutor, or peer mentor.
  • Accommodations: Adjustments are made to the learning environment or assignments to help students access the curriculum. For example, this may include extended time for tests, providing visual aids, or using assistive technology.
  • Modifications: Changes are made to the curriculum or expectations to ensure that students can participate fully.

College Counseling

The Maui Prep College Counseling Center provides individualized support beginning in the freshman year to meet each student’s unique college goals. Each year, Maui Prep students will complete a series of activities designed to prepare them for the college admissions process. Successful completion at each grade level results students earning a certificate, or “paddle,” signifying their progress as they paddle forward to college.
