A Celebration of Commitment and Community: Chris Salem ‘25 Signs with UH Manoa

In a heartfelt ceremony held at the Bozich Center, Chris Salem ‘25 took a monumental step in his athletic and academic journey by signing a National Letter of Intent to play Division I golf at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. The event was attended by his classmates, teammates, coaches, and influential figures who have supported him along the way.

A cherished tradition added a deeply personal touch to the celebration. The group gathered around the Pueo logo, painted on the gym floor, a symbol of unity and strength within the community. One by one, they shared stories of Chris's hard work, determination, and the moments that shaped his path to success. “Golf was a big part of his college search, but the academic piece was also a big part of it,” commented College Counselor Keenan Reader. “ He really did his research into Schidler [School of Business at UH Manoa]  to make sure that was a good fit before he really committed to his golf plan.” Chris is a core member of the Pueo boys golf team that has won the MIL team title 3 years (and counting!) and claimed the 2022 HHSAA Golf State Championship title. He also was a member of the state championship-winning basketball team in 2022 and recently qualified for the state cross country meet. 

Chris's signing is not only a testament to his talent but also to the values instilled by those around him. The ceremony served as a reminder of the bonds that drive individual achievement and the profound impact of shared support.

Chris is the son of Chris and Chea Salem.
