Pueo alumni Drew Triplett '22 has made a triumphant return to the Bozich Center, stepping into the role of head coach for the boys’ basketball team. Triplett, a decorated player during his time at the school, was recruited by Athletic Director Zach Bailey—who once coached Drew and the Pueo to their historic 2022 HHSAA State Championship title. "It’s an honor to have been welcomed back in the way I was and to have been trusted with coaching the boys basketball team this year. I never envisioned myself coming back in a coaching role but it’s been incredibly fulfilling and eye-opening to see how much goes into the coaching side of the game," commented Coach Triplett.
Drew’s high school career is marked by exceptional achievements, including being named MIL Player of the Year in both 2021 and 2022, earning All-Hawaiʻi Basketball honors, and receiving the prestigious titles of HHSAA Player of the Year and HHSAA Tournament Player of the Year. His legacy was solidified further when he was inducted into the Worth Family Wall of Fame, recognizing his extraordinary contributions to the school’s athletic program. "I have so much gratitude for the school and the opportunity they’ve given me. I’m trying to make sure I approach every game and every practice with the goal of doing my part to help set these boys up for success on and off the court."
As a coach, Drew brings his passion, experience, and leadership full circle, inspiring the next generation of Pueo athletes to strive for greatness both on and off the court. While not coaching, Drew is enrolled in online classes, finishing up his degree from UNLV.
