The Maui Prep Pueo Athletics keeps rewriting its history books every year as the Pueo program grows and makes its mark in the Maui Interscholastic League (MIL). Pueo Girls Swimming, under the direction of Coach Lindsey Masterson, won its third straight team championship on Saturday, January 25 at the Kihei Aquatic Center. The 8 girl team, represented by 7 juniors and a lone sophomore, raced out on top of the leaderboard after a convincing victory in the 200 yard medley relay, and never looked back. Points are awarded to the top 5 finishers in each event, with relay races scored double.
The Pueo girls field is deep with five swimmers double medaling in their events. Sacha Salem ‘26 left with 4 gold medals with individual MIL titles in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke. Sadie Stafford ‘26 won the 100 freestyle and Halia Caiserman ‘27 won her first MIL title in the 100 backstroke.
On the boys side, the small (but mighty) team saw swimmers Noah Richard ‘26, TJ Hehemann ‘26, and Renner Chumley ‘25 earned medals as well.
