Naiya Eide - The Impact of the Maui Prep Experience

"Everyone in the Maui Prep community was such a huge help and made me feel confident that I would get through just fine."
When I found out I was given financial aid to attend Maui Prep after the fire, I felt extremely grateful, but I ahd mixed feelings. I was nervous and honestly sad to leave Lahainaluna to attend a whole new school with different people. That uneasy feeling I had went away as soon as I walked onto campus. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and I felt so at home as soon as I got there.
I was very stubborn and had told all my classmates and teachers that this would be my only year here, and that I would be going back to Lahainaluna to graduate with my friends after this year was over. The school year came with many challenges and I would feel so defeated at times. Everyone in the Maui Prep community was such a huge help and made me feel confident that I would get through just fine. I am so grateful to everyone who helped me get through such a challenging year.
I grew to love the school so much that I made the decision to continue at Maui Prep for my senior year and graduate as a Pueo! I believe this was the best decision for me because of all the support and opportunities that Maui Prep has to offer! Thank you!
