Noah Richard - The Impact of the Maui Prep Experience
"Seeing my community and school come together to help those in need showed me the type of place this school is."
I was extremely grateful to be awarded the Pueo Scholar Award. When I first started at the school, I quickly saw how inviting all the teachers and students were, which made my first couple months at the school feel like I had gone there for years. Thanks to this opportunity, I have learned so much and grown as a person.
During my first high school swim season, I was honored to compete on the first boys team in Maui Prep history to win a team MIL championship. After the devastating fire in Lahaina wiped out our town, I realized how lucky I was to be a part of this family of a school. Seeing my community and school come together to help those in need showed me the type of place this school is.
During my second swim season, we did not have an actual pool to practice in, and the Breakers were kind enough to let us use their complex’s pool to practice and our team still ended up winning the MIL champs. Though this year was tough Maui Prep has helped me get through the tough times by not only keeping me busy with work and sports, but also by providing an amazing place to go to school. This amazing opportunity wouldn't be possible without my family, friends, school, and most importantly the amazing donors who helped me get here. Thank you!
